Nadia Elena Comaneci

It was at the Montreal Olympic Games 1976 that she had one of the most memorable sporting moments of all time - - the first-ever perfect 10, on the bars that were asymmetrical. Then she scored another perfect 10, making her the youngest Olympic overall gold medalist who was just fourteen years of age. Nadia Comaneci did not just attract attention from all over the world, she also helped put Romania in the spotlight. This sporting icon stepped into limelight after she scored an impossible score, thus becoming a hero and spreading the word about gymnastics as a game across the world. Public opinion about women athletes was changed due to the feat. Such was her impact during her participation in the Olympics that an uneven bar contest is named for two of the moves after her - toe-on and release, both of which are, till date, classified as high-level level. Apart from the Olympics she also became an athlete at World Championships and European Championships. Her performance earned her the title of one of the top gymnasts ever.
